Why did I choose this course?
✨ Honestly, at first I was just like you…
Scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad:
“TESOL for just $34, online, with an international certificate”
My first reaction was:
“Huh??? Probably a scam — how can TESOL be just 800k (VND)?”
I spent an entire evening googling:
✅ Checked their accreditation
✅ Read international reviews
✅ Messaged their Facebook page to ask support
And what I found: this course is offered by World TESOL Academy, accredited by Accreditat UK — a legitimate accreditation body with a real website and over 20 years of existence.
So I went ahead and signed up!
How was it after completing the course?
✅ Learning format:
Completely self-paced. No videos, no live teachers. They send you PDF materials for each module, and you read & take online quizzes.
✅ Content:
Pretty easy to understand, with lots of practical examples. I’m an Economics major but still managed to keep up fine.
✅ Time to complete:
I studied every evening and finished in about a week. At the end, there’s a final quiz — pass it and you get your certificate right away.
✅ Certificate:
You get a PDF certificate that looks quite professional if you print it in color. If you want a hard copy, they also offer shipping (for an extra fee).
Pros & Cons (in my personal opinion)
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Extremely cheap compared to the average (just $34, plus 5% off) | No video lectures |
| Content is easy to understand, flexible self-study | No hands-on practice or teacher interaction |
| Accredited by an international organization | Not suitable if you want to teach at big international schools |
| Flexible learning schedule |
Is this certificate actually useful?
This was my biggest question too at first.
I tried submitting my CV with this certificate to several English centers in Vietnam (for part-time, teaching kids, online jobs)… and the result: They said OK!
They only required a basic TESOL/TEFL certificate, and didn’t care much about where it was issued.
👉 But note:
If you plan to teach long-term or abroad, you should eventually take a more advanced TESOL/TEFL course with more hours and some practical training.
Some questions I had (and now I know the answers 😄)
Q: Do I need to be really good at English?
A: I’m just at an average conversational level and basic reading comprehension was enough to follow.
Q: Do they really give you a certificate at the end?
A: Yes! Once you finish the final quiz, they send the PDF certificate to your email.
Q: Is it hard?
A: Not really. Just read the materials and take the quizzes.
Q: How long does it take?
A: If you study diligently, you can finish in 4–5 days. I took about a week at a relaxed pace.
So who is this course for?
✅ Students who want to teach English part-time
✅ People working in other fields but want a TESOL certificate to take freelance teaching jobs
✅ Anyone who needs a basic TESOL certificate to boost their CV
✅ Those on a tight budget but still want at least an international certificate
👉 But if you want something more advanced, to teach at international schools or apply for a visa abroad, you should invest in a 120-hour TESOL or CELTA course instead.
